The Mighty Steelheads Concert

June 14th, Saturday, 7pm

The Mighty Steelheads are a multi-genre band based in Crescent City California.
Vern Monnett grew up in LaVerkin and is returning to perform for friends and family with his band. He began working as the pedal steel guitarist for Tex Mex legend Freddy Fender in 1993. He worked with Fender until Fender's death in 2005. This collaboration would result in recording two albums and worldwide touring to Europe, Japan, Canada, Australia and the United States. He has even done an cameo in "The Beverly Hillbillies" and can be seen playing guitar behind Dolly Pardon.

Who are we?

Vern Monnett (Guitar/Pedal Steel/Vocals): As the Mighty Steelheads founder and bandleader, Vern is a recent transplant to Ft. Dick from Los Angeles. His work there included recording and touring with Randy Meisner, Billy Swan, Charlie Rich Jr., Freddy Fender, The Texas Tornados, Gary Allan, and Jo-El Sonnier. Vern has an extensive library of Television and Movie soundtrack work, both on and off screen. Vern is currently playing pedal steel for Johnny Owens (Son of Buck Owens) in addition to his work with The Mighty Steelheads.

Frank John Colli (Guitar/Vocals) is a critically acclaimed, award winning singer, songwriter and guitarist. A charter member of the ‘60's Rockers Wildwood with Magnum Records, later to become Fantasy Records. Frankie was the bass player, lead vocalist and songwriter. His original song “Plastic People” on Magnum Records in ‘68, secured the band a recording contract with Guerssen Records. Frankie has continued to be a professional entertainer for over 45 years. After a stint as a front man and lead vocalist for the San Francisco band, Visions, consisting of ex-Malo, Boz Scaggs, Naked Lunch and Allman Bros Band musicians, he relocated to Hawaii.

Rob Jacob (Bass/Vocals): Rob is a Crescent City native and 30-year veteran of the local music scene. His rock guitar work has sonically violated local acts such as Coastal Access, the Hardgrooves, If Machines Could Swing and Holy Smoke. Rob’s most prolific work can be heard on several recordings of the indie-rock band Sutrobath based out of Washington. Recently, he has transitioned to electric bass, performing with the groups Cut It Like The Kings and Monogroove. Rob’s laid-back style and demeanor are appreciated by bandmates and fans alike. Rob Abides!

Nicholas Sandoval (Drums/Vocals): Nic is the "Reverse Dave Grohl" member of The Mighty Steelheads. He is an accomplished guitarist in his own right and has moved over to the drum slot, where he does an amazing job. Nic's love of all styles brings great energy to the band, and his solid playing has quickly endeared him to the band and fans alike.
