The Mighty Steelheads are a multi-genre band based in Crescent City California.
Vern Monnett grew up in LaVerkin and is returning to perform for friends and family with his band. He began working as the pedal steel guitarist for Tex Mex legend Freddy Fender in 1993. He worked with Fender until Fender’s death in 2005. This collaboration would result in recording two albums and worldwide touring to Europe, Japan, Canada, Australia and the United States. He has even done an cameo in “The Beverly Hillbillies” and can be seen playing guitar behind Dolly Pardon.

On Lead Vocals and Guitar: Luke Randall of America’s Got Talent fame, as well as house guitarist for the “Billy Joel” Tribute on the Strip in Las Vegas, at the Mosaic Theater! Luke is a gifted guitarist, pianist, and vocalist, with several albums of his own originals under his belt, and an exciting SHOWMAN!
On Keyboards: John Houston, who has performed in Gladys Night’s SUV Choir, and is currently involved in SEVEN bands, 4 of which tour the United States and Canada! John has been in front of over 100,000 fans with the Eric Dodge Band, and Tom Matz Band. John currently works as Music Director at the Hale Music Theater in Gilbert, AZ. He owns and operates a recording studio for a day job and can be heard on Radio Commercials in Southern Utah, and Las Vegas. John was a double major at SUU, with an emphasis on Music Theory, and Vocals.
On Bass Guitar, Joe Costello, formerly a music instructor in Utah, moved to Arizona and plays with various Bands. He is sharing his love of music as a studio teacher and musician at Costello Family Music. Joe Studied Classical guitar at Arizona State and has a Bachelor of Art from Southern Utah University and he KILLS it on Bass Guitar!
On Drums, Dutch Workman, with a background in traditional jazz (award-winning) and an exceptional studio drummer! He has played live in front of over 100,000 screaming fans in bands including Eric Dodge, and the Tom Matz Band, and has been the Studio Drummer on hundreds of recordings, including tracks with Living Colour lead singer, Corey Glover!
On Lead Guitar and Vocals: Rick Houston, whose musical background reaches all the way back to his childhood, where learned to sing harmony by the age of 6! Rick has provided entertainment for private and corporate parties for decades, playing guitar and singing in multiple rock and country bands around Utah, Nevada, and California.
