For more than four decades, Lyman Hafen, writer and founding director of the Zion Forever Project; and Roland Lee, nationally acclaimed watercolor artist, have been telling the story of Zion through words and images. For centuries people have attempted to express what this canyon means to them with symbols on rock, words on paper and images on canvas. These two chroniclers of Zion will share the critical role that the printed word and original art played in the creation of Zion National Park, and debate whether a picture is worth a thousand words, or a word is worth a thousand pictures.
